Obituary of Maria Ottilie Luecke
Maria Ottilie Luecke, 90, of Ayr, Ontario passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026 in Waterloo, Ontario.
Maria was born on April 17, 1935 in Crinitz, Germany to Frieda and Friedrich Böttcher. She spent her childhood in Bad Muskau, Germany and later went on to achieve a state diploma in agriculture in Weimar, Germany where she met her lifelong companion and husband Klaus Dieter Luecke.
Maria and Klaus immigrated to Canada in 1963 and settled into their self-constructed home in Ayr, Ontario in 1967. Maria wore many hats including German teacher at Conestoga College and German Language School Concordia while being a dedicated stay at home mom and nanny. She was a lifetime member of the Concordia Club in Kitchener, Ontario, which hosted the biggest annual Octoberfest outside of Munich. In her role, she met the likes of Pierre Trudeau, Brian Mulroney, John Candy and the Hells Angels! She will be remembered for her dynamic, charismatic and charming character inside and outside the classroom as well as her lifelong dedication to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Mathias and his wife Eve, daughter Barbara, son Andreas and his wife Kathleen, her grandchildren Nick, Katie, Marlie, David and Amelia, as well as her great-grandchildren Indigo, Celestia, and Juniper. Maria is predeceased by husband Klaus, and her brothers Fritz and Kurt Boettcher.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Extendicare Columbia Forest as well as all the medical staff in the KW area.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Ontario on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
