Dear Nellie and Family,
My sincere condolences. As a very long-time friend, and godmother to Marcus, there are so many cherished memories of Waldemar, and blessings of getting to know you all. Waldemar's intellect, curiosity, great music talents, and teaching qualities in music, linguistics, and German are just a few of the many qualities that shone throughout his life, not to mention his love of nature, and writings and compositions, and his wonderful sense of humour.
Sending loving thoughts, blessings, and prayers.
Isabella

Condolences to the Scholtes family surrounding the passing of Waldemar,
It was a pleasure to get to know the family through Matthias and Marcus while attending Rockway Mennonite Collegiate together in the 1990's. We share in celebrating Waldemar's legacy, and pray for God's comfort and peace as you mourn the loss.

Dear Nellie and family,
It was a privilege to care for both you and Waldemar over so many years in my practice. Waldemar had a way of brightening every visit—his gentle humour, and the quiet gratitude he carried into the treatment room each visit. I always looked forward to seeing him, and to seeing the two of you together. The warmth between you was unmistakable; it spoke of a lifetime of partnership, patience, and deep affection.
Please know how deeply saddened we are by his passing. I hope that the memories you shared—the laughter, the stories, the simple comfort of being side by side—bring you strength in the days ahead. Waldemar was a good man, and it was an honour to know him.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Klaus and Sylvia

Willy Fleras posted a condolence
Tuesday, February 17, 2026
My name is Willy Fleras. I was a member of the Scholtes band (accordian) from 1965 to 1967. Wally would pick me up every week after school and drive me to the family farm in West Montrose for rehearsals. Even though I was only 14 years old (and Wally was 21), he treated me with respect - as an equal. We became very close, playing every Saturday in dance halls and clubs across southern Ontario.
Wally was an amazing musician who truly loved his craft. I recall drawing the ire of his father when we would jazz up the playing of O Canada!
Even though it has been 50+ years since we last met, I was very sad to read of his passing. My deepest sympathies to his family. The memories will never fade.
