Obituary of Shirley Eileen Elgie

Shirley passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario.

She is survived by two daughters, Jayme Eileen Stemmler and Valorie Lynne Stackhouse, along with five grandchildren, Kristi, Dayna, Christopher, Tara and Amy.

She was predeceased by her husband James Randolph Brown and her second husband Eugene Elgie. Shirley was also predeceased by her daughter Carol Grosse.

Shirley spent the years 1925 to 1957 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. In 1957 she moved with her husband and three daughters to Waterloo, Ontario. She worked from 1959 to 1977 with Zehrs Markets at different locations in the K/W area. In 2015 she moved into a seniors’ facility, Longworth in London, Ontario. In 2020 she moved to Glendale Crossing in London, Ontario, where she spent her remaining years.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
