On Thursday, February 19, 2026 Vernon George Allemang was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by love and prayer.

Survived by sons Peter, his wife Erin and Stephen and his wife Heather. Loving grandfather of Talia, Maya, and Elena Allemang, and Brian and Amelia Snider. Also fondly remembered by Dave & Ann and Scott & Kim Snider.

Predeceased by his 2 loving wives Christene and Carol, his brother Laurence and sister Kay.

Vern was born in Preston, Ontario where he met and married his first wife Christene. They raised a family in Kitchener where he taught history at Cameron Heights.  Vern was very active as an Elder, Youth Leader, and Layperson in the Mennonite Church. He was a joyful singer and member of the Jubilation Men’s Chorus. After Christene passed away in 1990, Vern met Carol Snider at a Stanley Park grief group and they married in 1992.  They lived in Waterloo and then Elmira for many years before moving back to KW.   Both spent the last part of their lives at Sunnyside where they received excellent care until February 19, 2025 for Carol and February 19, 2026 for Vern.

Special thanks to the staff at Sunnyside for their care and compassion, and to Harvey and Arlene Kehl for their loving devotion.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2 – 5 p.m. Funeral service to take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
