Our beloved maman and mémé, Jacqueline passed away peacefully at The Village at University Gates, on Monday, February 16, 2026, in her 93rd year.
Predeceased by her loving husband Donald, she is survived by her sons George and Gerry, daughters-in-law Michelle and Micheline, grandchildren Michael, Margaret, Isaac and Paul, her sister-in-law Thérèse and niece Heidi.
Jacqueline was born in Québec and raised by her parents, Albert and Yvonne, who had immigrated from France between the two world wars. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Laval University, and working for the Québec and federal civil service, she met and married Don, the love of her life, raised her two sons, and enjoyed the companionship of her many friends. Later in life, she moved with Don to Ottawa, and then Kitchener-Waterloo, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Jacqueline enjoyed swimming, reading, listening to classical music and French chansonniers, photography, crafts, gastronomie (her father was an accomplished cook) and spending time with her family.
We thank all the staff at University Gates for their care and compassion and for making Jacqueline feel part of the Village community. We also thank the palliative care team for their care and support and Dr. Albert Mensah and Dr. Alison Martin for their care over the past few years.
A celebration of her life is planned for the spring of 2026.

Notre maman et mémé bien-aimée, Jacqueline, s'est éteinte paisiblement au Village at University Gates, Waterloo, le lundi 16 février 2026, à l'âge de 92 ans.
Prédécédée par son époux bien-aimé Donald, elle laisse dans le deuil ses fils George et Gerry, ses belles-filles Michelle et Micheline, ses petits-enfants Michael, Margaret, Isaac et Paul, sa belle-sœur Thérèse et sa nièce Heidi.
Jacqueline est née à Québec où elle a été élevée par ses parents, Albert et Yvonne, qui avaient immigré de la France lors de l’entre-deux-guerres. Après avoir complété son cours classique et reçu un baccalauréat de l'Université Laval, Jacqueline a travaillé pour les fonctions publiques québécoise et fédérale. Elle a rencontré et épousé Don, l'amour de sa vie, a élevé ses deux fils et a jouit de la compagnie de ses nombreux amis. Elle a ensuite déménagé avec Don à Ottawa, puis à Kitchener-Waterloo, pour se rapprocher de ses enfants et petits-enfants. Jacqueline adorait nager, lire, écouter la musique classique et de ses chansonniers préférés, faire de la photographie et de l'artisanat, bien manger (son père était un cuisinier accompli) et passer du temps avec sa famille.
Nous remercions les membres du personnel de University Gates pour leurs soins et leur compassion, et pour l’avoir accueillie dans la communauté. Nous remercions également les membres de l'équipe de soins palliatifs pour leurs soins et leur soutien ainsi que les docteurs Albert Mensah et Alison Martin pour les soins qu’ils ont prodigués au cours des dernières années.
Une célébration de sa vie est prévue au printemps 2026.
