Obituary of Lane Ross Lorenz

Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the age of 29.

Lane will be deeply and forever missed by his loving mother, Cathy Knox; his sister, Caity Knox, and her husband, Devin; and his cherished niece and nephew, Nova and Dakoda Knox of Alberta. He is also lovingly remembered by his half-sister, Annette Songer, her husband, John, and their two sons of Florida; his uncle Eric (Nancy) McPherson of Kentucky; his aunt Cindy (Jim) Sullivan of Oklahoma; and his father, Timothy (Tammy) Lorenz of Ohio. Lovingly remembered by Lenny Pattinson of Ontario, who remained a caring and important presence in his life.

Lane was predeceased by his uncle, Charles, who is lovingly remembered by his wife, Adrienne, and their four children of Ft. White, Florida.

Lane was born in Owen Sound and spent his early years growing up in the Durham and Hanover area. He attended Holy Family School and Church in Hanover, where his faith and sense of belonging began to take root. In later years, he made his home in the Kitchener–Waterloo area.

From a young age, Lane had a gentle soul and a curious mind. He found comfort and wonder in books, often losing himself in stories and ideas. He loved swimming, animals, and traveling, and he carried a lifelong passion for computers and video games. These interests reflected his thoughtful nature and his quiet way of connecting with the world around him.

Lane faced struggles that were often unseen, and addiction and mental illness touched his life, yet he remained a kind and gentle soul. These challenges never defined his spirit or the love he gave and received. Above all, he will be remembered for his compassionate heart and his deep love for his family. We find comfort in believing he is now at peace, free from the burdens he carried. His journey does not end here; he has returned to the Creator, where his spirit is free and at peace.

Though his time here was far too short, his spirit lives on in the memories he gave and the love he shared. He leaves behind a space that cannot be filled, but also a lasting reminder to hold one another close and cherish each day.

Cremation has taken place, and there will not be a service at this time. In honor of Lane’s life, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Hospitality House (through the Working Centre).
