Obituary of Don Dal Bianco
Donald Joseph Dal Bianco, 89, of Waterloo, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital,on February 25th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Don was a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and adored great-grandfather,who lived a full and meaningful life centered on family, hard work, and quiet kindness.
Born on May 4th, 1936 in Gatchell, Sudbury, ON, he was the son of Paul and Flora Dal Bianco. He proudly served in business as a Chartered Accountant and industry leader within the Senior Care sector. Past President of the Ontario Nursing Home Association (now OLTCA) and co-founder of ORCA (Ontario Retirement Communities Association). As a caring owner and operator of retirement homes and long-term care homes he developed a great reputation and respect from his peers in the industry..Those who knew him loved him for his repertoire of jokes and his sense of humour with an ability to make people laugh and smile. Don was also known for his generosity and love of life especially within his family. He adored his loving wife Libby, his kids and grandchildren and was generous beyond measure. He was an accomplished athlete of many sports including hockey, fishing, golf, baseball and football. Above all, he was a family man. He was the loving husband of Libby for almost 65 years. He was a devoted father to his two children: Rob (Joanie) and Janet (Tom). He delighted in his role as Nonno to three wonderful grandchildren: Josh (Carly), Carling (Matt) and Thea (Lukas) and also Nonno to two very special great-grandchildren , Kelly and Clark, whom he cherished beyond measure. His pride in his growing family was evident in every smile, story, dance and hug.
Don was preceded in death by his loving parents, Paul and Flora and his loving sister Loretta. Don will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love, guidance, and generosity he gave so generously during his life.. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the family he built and protected.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 6th, 2026 at The Village at University Gates, at 250 Laurelwood Drive in Waterloo, ON in the Town Hall and afterwards in The Ruby above.
The family would like to thank the Hospital and especially the wonderful people in the emergency department and the Stroke Ward for their wonderful care. The family would also like to thank Schlegel Villages and Warm Embrace for the exceptional care that Don received at The Village making his final years with Libby so special.
