Dear Wendy & All Hagues,
We are very sad to hear that your beloved Gord passed away in Mexico. Our hearts go out to all of you and hope your cherished memories heal your pain a bit. Now reunited with brother Kenny, parents Ken and Daphne and his grand-parents, Gord is also with you in spirit everyday.
As you know, Gord was my first childhood friend. According to our parents (who double-dated in high school), we met in a playpen soon after he was born and I was 7 months his elder. Over the next 6 decades, we experienced so much together between Montreal, Lake Manitou, Toronto, Waterloo, Cornwall, London and Guelph:
• Sports – ice/ball hockey (including Ste. Agathe hockey camp), tennis, baseball, ping pong, waterskiing, swimming, canoeing, sailing, rowing, tetherball, regatta competitions
• Games – chess, backgammon, “Spearing Moose”, cards (“Cribbage”, “Snap”, “Crazy Eights”, “Spite & Malice”), Hardy Boys/Tom Swift “speed reading” competition
• More Fun – birthday/regatta/New Year’s Eve parties, family dinners, camping (Arthur’s Seat, the Big Island, Little River VT), fort building, go-karting, "cassette letters", weddings, concerts (Bob Seger 1978, Steve Earle 2013), first beer together @ age 14 – and many more since!
• Biz & Politics – both of us were entrepreneurial (he was my landlord in 1985!) and both of us ran for municipal council (but didn’t win…)
We never thought Gord’s great life would end at age 65 but the memories we shared will stay with us forever. Until we see him again upstairs, may he rest in peace.
With sympathy and love,
Marty & Mary
xoxo

My heart felt condolences go out to Wendy and the entire Hague family. The number of lifelong friends that Gord had is a testament to his kindness and big heart. I met Gord at WCI where we ran track together (he was a very fast 800 metre runner), followed by many good times at Western where he excelled academically. Over the years our high school and university gang stayed close and we had many great parties and ski trips, all of which Gord enjoyed immensely. Recently a bunch of us went to Costa Rica. Gord loved it and became very involved in our host Mike Bradley’s (university roommate of Gord’s) Woodfield Nature Camps, a charitable venture providing healing in nature for families with sick kids. We will all miss Gord immensely.

Condolences to Wendy and the entire family. I know that the first sunny warm day of the spring he and Jack will be together up above on a deck playing a long game of caps being loud and enjoying the long tradition they had of skipping school/work and celebrating the day!
