Obituary of Gary Edwards

Passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 17, 2026.

Survived by his son Josh Edwards and his partner Kirsten Gerger, daughter Chelsea Edwards and her partner Jordon Gies. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Aubree and Bennett Gies and Ivy Edwards. Survived by his sister Ellen (Dwayne) Walker and sister Jackie (Mark) Wirzman, as well as his nieces and nephews Shane and Tyler, Heather and Molly, Kory, Riley and Mary. Gary is also survived by his brothers-in-law Mike (Tracy) and Nathan (Patty) and their children Dennis, Becca and Olivia.

Predeceased by his loving wife Shelly Edwards, his parents Fred and Molly Edwards, his sister Heather Martin, and his parents-in-law Joan and Pat Bester.

Gary was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Bills fan. He loved golfing with his buddies. Family was always important to him. He adored his grandchildren, whether it was taking them for ice cream or watching their sports. He also loved spending time with his sisters and their families at whatever event popped up. You would also find Gary with a Twisted Tea or MAYBE a shot of whiskey. He was the life of the party. He always put his children and grandchildren first. Gary will always be remembered as “THE LEGEND”.

Friends and loved ones are invited to a memorial service for Gary at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
