Obituary of John Andrew Merkel

Passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 63.

Cherished brother of Joanne Soehner, Douglas Jr. (Anita) Merkel, Cathy (Ricardo) Saldana, Rick (Beth) Merkel and Rose (Jim) Butterworth.

Predeceased by his parents Joan and Douglas Merkel.

John was a devoted dog lover who found great joy in the companionship of his canine friends. He had a passion for racing, along with camaraderie it brought. Above all, John cherished the outdoors, where he felt most at peace. His adventurous spirit and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

There will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place.  A graveside service will be held at a later date.
