Obituary of Adam Kane

March 14, 1933 - March 26, 2026

 

Passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by family on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the age of 93.

 

Survived by his beloved wife of 65 outstanding years, Elizabeth Kane.  Devoted father of Mary Kane McCabe, Patricia Lambert (Paul Lambert), Bernadette Behm (Rob Behm), Kathleen Kane (David Juniper).  Cherished “Granda” of Adam McCabe, Daniel McCabe, Stephanie Lambert, Phillip Behm, Christianne McCabe, Cassandra Behm, Elizabeth Lambert, Kirsten Behm, Emily Feeney, Hannah Feeney.  Lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Landon, Bailey, Taylen, Ryder and Nash.  Also survived by his sister Marion Shiels and sisters-in-law Sally Devlin and Helen Dedieu.

 

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Isabel Kane, and siblings Rosetta, Daniel, James, Charles, and Isabelle and sister-in-law Ann Eppich.

Adam emigrated to Canada from Northern Ireland at the age of 21, making his way across the country before eventually settling in Kitchener, Ontario.

He was a loving and devoted family man who cherished his beloved wife and four daughters, dedicating his life to caring for them and always prioritizing time together. A true gentleman, Adam was kind, gracious, and endlessly generous, always ready to lend a helping hand to a friend in need. He was lighthearted, with a wonderful sense of humour that brought joy to those around him.

Adam was a hardworking man who took great pride in his craft as a skilled carpenter. He was also deeply committed to his community, volunteering his time with St. Vincent de Paul, Freeport Hospital, and the KW Food Bank.

He found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Adam loved gardening and had a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty. Music was another passion of his, and he especially enjoyed connecting with others through song. For many years, he was a proud member of the KW Harmonizers, sharing his love of music and camaraderie.

Throughout his life, Adam was also a devoted companion to many beloved furry friends, who brought him great happiness.

Adam will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength that will live on in all who knew him.

Special thanks to the incredible Doctors, nurses and various health care professionals at the St. Mary’s Hospital.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 12:00 noon – 12:45 p.m.  A funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. followed by refreshments.  Interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, 119 Arlington Blvd., Kitchener following the reception.
