Obituary of Toni (Irene) Antonia Aston

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Toni on March 27, 2026. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

Toni was predeceased by her mother, Edna; her father, Ken; and her brother, Geoff. She is lovingly remembered by her beloved daughter, Meg (Aston-Lebold); her cherished grandchildren, Max and Jake; and her devoted husband, Brock (Chittim). We are all heartbroken by her loss.

She will also be deeply missed by her many friends and colleagues, whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.

Her equine companions, Harley and Bob—her “sons”—will also miss her dearly and, in keeping with her wishes, will be lovingly cared for.

Toni was a graduate of the University of Waterloo (BA ’91), an achievement of which she was immensely proud. She earned her degree while working full time and raising her daughter—a testament to her determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family. She went on to build a long and meaningful career at the University of Waterloo, where one of her most cherished roles was supporting international student recruitment within the Faculties of Mathematics and Computer Science. This work combined her love of travel with her passion for connecting with others, giving her the opportunity to explore the world and build meaningful relationships across cultures. Wherever her travels took her, she was happiest near the ocean.

Toni is a truly remarkable and loving person. We say “is” because her spirit will always remain with us. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a gift for offering thoughtful, steady advice.

She made friends easily, gave generously of herself, and offered comfort and kindness to all who knew her. Though she will be a tough act to follow, we will honour her memory and carry her love with us always.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral; a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (Gynecologic Oncology) or to a charity of your choice may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or at www.erbgood.com.
