Obituary of Kaare Haugland

On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Kaare Haugland passed away peacefully during the night.  

Loving husband of the late Joan Haugland (July 2019) and survived by his son Andrew (Eden) and their daughter Sydney; his daughter Christine and her son Tyler; and cousin Astri Thorvik (Barry). He will be deeply missed. 

Immigrating from Norway and settling in Saint Agathe, Quebec, in his youth with family, his young adult life was filled with travel and adventures across North America as a ski instructor and working in the hotel industry. Settling down in his 30s to marry and raise a family, Kaare was known to family and close friends as having a passion for fine food, good wine and a story or two of adventures in his younger days.  

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunnyside Long Term Care as well as staff at The Village at University Gates for their care and compassion during Kaare's final years.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. A funeral service will be held in Hudson, QC, with family in attendance at a later date.
