Obituary of Doris Marguarite Hartman

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the age of 92.

Loving mother of Mary Lou Huebner (Peter), Arlene Meyer (Greg), David Hartman (Vicki), Karen Doyle (Jim), Heather Demaiter (Leon), Luke Hartman (Wendy), and Stephen Hartman (Cindy). Cherished grandmother of Alexandra (Jamal), Natalie (Nathan), Chad (Kim), Nicholas, Amelie (Matthew), Jonathan, Christian (Jessica), Patrick, Matthew (Alyssa), Bradley (Lauren), Michael (Jennifer), Gerard (Sarah), William (Samantha), Stephen (Madison, fiancée), Ann (Adam), Liam, and Mitchell. Special great-grandmother of Mira, Cody, Kara, Elias, Declan, Novy, Fletcher, Bellamy, Faith, Isabel, Benjamin, Amelia, Evelyn, Audrey, Bryson, Christian, Aiden, Avery, Nathan, Jacob, and Clara. Doris is also survived by her sisters Marie MacDonald, Ann Murphy, and Florence Dalton (Peter), brothers Cecil Villard (Carolyn), and Joseph MacDougall (Beverly), and many extended family members and friends.

Predeceased by her beloved husband William Hartman (2017), granddaughter Ashley Meyer (2006), parents Joseph and Mary Jane MacEachern, and her brothers Gerard MacEachern, Harry Hennessey, Albert MacEachern, and Wayne Smith, and sister Pauline Hughes.

Doris was an active partner in the family businesses. Her behind-the-scenes efforts at W.C. Hartman Construction contributed to its success. Later in her career, Bill and Doris operated Northfield Boarding Kennel, where she enjoyed getting to know her clients and caring for their pets. She was also instrumental in the founding of Benjamin Tree Farm. Over the years, Doris held numerous roles at St. Mary’s Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, including President. She enjoyed hosting friends and family at her Markdale Cottage, and Sunday dinners. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Parish Prayers to begin at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement RC Church, 3619 Lobsinger Line, St. Clements on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, with Reception to follow.
