Obituary of Edward Michael Stix

Edward passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 92, after a courageous battle with dementia.

He will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Marjorie; his children, Edward, James, Robert (Darlene), and John (Demi); his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother, Carl (Dianne); and his sister-in-law, Janice. Also lovingly remembered by Marjorie’s family.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Stix; his sisters, Elizabeth Ford and Elsie Baird (Patrick); and his brother, William.

Edward was an active man who truly loved the outdoors, especially fishing, walking in nature, and spending time up north in Point au Baril, Ontario, with family and friends. He also loved to listen and watch for birds (especially the northern loons), along with all wildlife, finding peace and happiness in the beauty of nature. Edward was well-read and enjoyed keeping up with politics, world events, airplanes, new cars, and the outdoors.

He was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his work, spending over 30 years in direct sales and management, where he truly enjoyed building, mentoring, and leading teams. He was both a gentleman and a gentle man. Someone who appreciated the value of a handshake, a good joke, talking hockey about his beloved Montreal Canadiens and simply appreciating the present moment.

Edward was a longstanding member at Trillium, formerly St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served over the years as an usher and gave communion. He believed deeply in the power of carrying a positive outlook on life, even as he battled cancer and other ailments over the years, facing each challenge with quiet strength and grace. He was also quick to forgive and forget. We would often hear him say, “We look forward in life, not backwards, and tomorrow’s always a new day.”

He treasured his annual trips to Marco Island, Florida, with Marjorie, and he loved home cooking (especially burgers), fries, fruit pies, and strudels, which the latter reminded him of his mother’s cooking.

Edward lived a full life and truly, a life full of memories and moments that will be carried forward by all who knew him.

A private family service was held, and Edward was laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to the WRHN Foundation – Chicopee Palliative Care, the Waterloo Hospice, or Trillium Lutheran Church may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
