Gordon Robert Jones was promoted into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 90.

Born in Montreal in 1935, Gord was the third of four sons born to Albert Jones and Marjorie Wenlock-Beeton Jones. In the late 1940s, shortly after the end of the Second World War, the family moved to Toronto. Gord attended York Memorial Collegiate Institute in the early 1950s, where he joined the school choir under the direction of Elmer Iseler, nurturing a love of singing that remained with him throughout his life. He also loved playing sports, especially football and hockey. After high school, Gord studied Industrial Chemistry at Ryerson before beginning a career in sales. It was a path well suited to his personable nature, and one that allowed him to draw on his science background. Through his work, he was encouraged to learn the game of golf, which became a passion he enjoyed for decades.

It was in Toronto that Gord met the love of his life, Rollande Jones (née Nolet). They met at Stone Church and were married there in 1959. Together they built a life grounded in faith, family, and friendships. During their years in West Rouge, they welcomed their two daughters, Donna and Sharon. In 1980, they moved to Oakville, where they made their home for the next forty years. Their home was a place of warmth and welcome, marked by conversation, laughter, and generous hospitality. In 2020, Gord and Rollande moved to Waterloo, where he lived his final years.

Gord came to know the Lord at a young age, and that decision shaped the course of his life. His faith was something he thoughtfully lived out each day. He loved the local church and served faithfully over the years in many capacities, including youth leader, Christian Service Brigade leader, choir member, Bible study teacher, and board member. He also devoted more than fifteen years of service to the board of the Pentecostal Benevolent Association (Shepherd Village).

Among the family’s most cherished memories are those made at the cottage at Lakeshore Pentecostal Camp near Cobourg. It was a treasured gathering place for family and friends, whether sharing a meal or enjoying coffee on the deck overlooking the lake.

Gord was a devoted husband to Rollande, a loving father to Donna (Duane) Paddock and Sharon (Norman) Malloch, and a proud grandfather to Tyler (MacKenzie) Malloch and Olivia Malloch. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, thoughtfulness, and good humour.

“Well done, good and faithful servant…Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. His family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace, at home with the Lord he faithfully trusted all his life. We will see him in the morning.
