Obituary of Shirley Lily Ramadhar

Shirley passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, April 20, 2026, at WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd. (formerly St. Mary’s Hospital) in Kitchener, Ontario, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

Born on November 3, 1946, in Trinidad and Tobago to Ram and Sooganie Ramroop, Shirley was the seventh girl in her family followed by two boys. Her sisters were Sonia, Pearl Chandra, Josephine, Eva, Marjorie, and Madree, followed by two brothers, Winston and Raymond. She attended Holy Faith Catholic School. She loved a wide variety of music and expanded that interest by singing and learning to play the violin. Over the years, several of her siblings migrated to Canada and the United States. In time, she eventually made the decision to come to Canada in August 1969, where she attended Wilfred Laurier University. She moved to the United States to marry in 1971, returning to Canada in July 1996. Her years in New York were spent as an Accountant at Macy’s and Coopers & Lybrand.

Shirley loved children and for a long time wanted her very own. Happily, in 1984 she gave birth to her pride and joy, Timothy. Her life was now complete. Every moment of every day her mission, her passion, was to raise her son. She poured her heart and soul into making a home for her small family.  

Throughout her life, Shirley was a great cook. She perfected her art of cooking, frequently inviting family and friends over to the house. 

Shirley is survived by her husband Ramesar Ramadhar and her son Timothy (Margaret) Ramadhar. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., with Father Pawel Jamroz of St. Michael Parish officiating. Reception to follow at Empress of India, 34 King St. South, Waterloo.

Shirley will be dearly missed by all.
