Obituary of Wendy Elizabeth Strickler

Wendy Strickler (nee Robertson) passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at The Village of University Gates, at the age of 86.

Loving mother to Leslie (Ellen), Jay (Laura), Rob (Leslie) and very proud grandma to Mattson, Daniel, Eleanor and Evelyn. Wendy was predeceased by her husband Gary in 2013.

Wendy and Gary were high school sweethearts who met at Kitchener Collegiate Institute and lived in Oakville for over 50 years. She will be greatly missed by her extended family, Oakville “WASC” friends and the Waterloo “Sunfish Lake Ladies”.

A graduate of Western, after time spent as a teacher, volunteer tutor and raising the family, Wendy had a successful second career as a Financial Advisor in Oakville for over 20 years. She made lasting friendships with her clients and colleagues and started a Women’s Investment group to empower women to manage their finances. She was a past member of St. Jude’s Church and the Oakville Women’s University Club.

She thoroughly enjoyed all social events and was genuinely interested in getting to know others and hearing their life stories. She loved her Oakville “Gourmet Group”, spending time with family and her broad group of friends, watching all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, playing bridge and pursuing a variety of craft and needlepoint projects.  

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful group of women who recently made up “Team Wendy”: Kelly, Lynn, Janet, Lorraine, Amalita, Sam and Liduina. Also, many thanks to the dedicated staff of University Gates and Egerton floor who supported Wendy in the past three years.

A private celebration will be held at a later date, with interment at Kitchener Woodland Cemetery.
