I was saddened to hear of Allan’s passing this week. I learned a lot from Allan, and was privileged to hear his passion for the Christian Horizons Foundation, and to take on his duties. His care for others was so evident in all of our conversations, and our chats always had his laughter included!
God Bless All of you this week and in future.

I am saddened to hear of Pastor Shantz's passing. He had a unique influence in my pastoral ministry. Years ago, after he had retired, he agreed to join us at Elgin EMC in Stratford as "pastor Emeritus". We leaned heavily on his years of wisdom and "know how". Knowing his quirky sense of humour, I had the privilege to introduce him to our congregation the very first Sunday. I think I said something along the lines of, "We welcome Pastor Shantz today and it gives us great pleasure to learn that he met Jesus on the road to emeritus." He laughed and laughed. Seriously, I count it a privilege to have known him during those years. His "old school" wisdom fed more into my soul than I think either of us realized. I have more quotes I wrote from J Allan Shantz in my bibles than I can shake a stick at. He will be missed.

I was saddened to learn of Mr. Shantz’s passing. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to reconnect with him last year after many years. Allan and Clarene were dear friends of my parents, the Rev. Frank and Dorothy Edney, both men having led ministries in Stayner. Our lives touched again years later when I worked with Dave Kennedy in Richmond Hill. And God brought us together yet again through our connection with Christian Horizons Foundation (Kari’s Disability Services). Sincere condolences to his family as they mourn the loss of a truly remarkable man. —- Christine (Edney) Phillips

We were saddened to hear of your father's passing. We have memories of you family at the Markham Missionary Church. It was good to reconnect with your dad again during the past number of years when he attended EastRidge Church. He will always be remembered for his quit wit and sense of humour. May you be comforted by the knowledge that he is with his Saviour and your many happy memories.
With our deepest sympathy and prayers,
