Obituary of Mary Ann Meier

Mary Ann Meier (nee Wouters), born October 22, 1958, in Kitchener, Ontario, passed away peacefully on May 2nd 2026, surrounded by her family.

Mary Ann is lovingly remembered by her husband, Oscar Meier; her sons, Ryan (Christina) Meier and Jeff (Amanda) Meier; and her cherished grandsons, Alexander and Joseph. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Karen (Paul) Nyenhuis, and her brother, Terry (Karen) Wouters. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack Wouters and Frances (Fran)(nee Speek) Wouters.

She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Jessica (Kris) Orr, Chris (Imke) Nyenhuis, Mark (Charles) Nyenhuis, and Jacqueline (Jordy) Reijnen, whose love and support meant so much to her, especially in the years after Ryan and Jeff moved to Alberta.

Mary Ann dedicated 43 years of service to Grand River Hospital / Midtown Medical Centre, retiring in 2023. She truly loved her career, caring deeply for her patients and forming lasting relationships with colleagues and friends, who will miss her greatly.

Outside of work, Mary Ann was an avid walker and a familiar face among her early morning walking group in the Lakeshore North community. She found joy in these daily routines and the friendships they fostered.

Above all, Mary Ann put her family first. She was incredibly devoted to and proud of her sons, who will miss her dearly. Her warmth, kindness, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew her.

A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, May 8th 2026 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with remarks starting at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to Pancreatic Cancer Research with the Canadian Cancer Society or to Hospice Waterloo Region may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or at www.erbgood.com.
