Obituary of Jake Besselink

Jacob Besselink passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 64, with family by his side at William Osler Health System – Brampton Civic Hospital.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dahlia (nee Guzman) Besselink, and his parents, Jacob Besselink and Hendrika Winnan Besselink.

He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Rita Runstedler (Mark Bannerman), Rick (Margie) Besselink, and Ed Besselink, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and extended family in the Philippines, all of whom held Jake close to their hearts.

Jake worked for many years as a cook at Kopper’s Restaurant, a role he truly enjoyed. He later worked at Canadian Tire in British Columbia before transferring to a location in Brampton. He was a kind and generous man with a heart of gold. He loved his family deeply and was always ready with a quick, cheeky comment that brought laughter to those around him. Jake was truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Jake was married to Dahlia for 10 years and embraced the extended family he gained in the Philippines, who loved him very much. He had hoped to return there one last time.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
