With her family by her side, Barbara peacefully passed away at the age of 88. On Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 just one month after what would have been her 70th wedding anniversary, Barb joined her loving husband, Bill (2022).
Barb was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her children Karen (Lyle), Kevin (Wendy), and Kelly (Leighton); grandchildren Tammy (Chuck), Rodney (Candace), Tanya, Rick (Lindsey), Terri (Justin), Taylor, Kaitlyn, and Courtney (Liam); nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as her brother John and sister-in-law Sharon. She will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and neighbours.
Predeceased by her parents Jerome and Marie Carey, and brother Ronald.
Throughout her years, Barb worked at Plastic Prescriptions, where she appreciated being out of the house and socializing with others. In her free time, Barb enjoyed being outside gardening and tending to her flower beds; feeding the collection of birds and squirrels that returned to her yard; or battling her loved ones in a card game of 21/31. Barb spent many joyful years of holidays at Sauble Beach and as her family grew, they returned year after year to take over a small resort at Horseshoe Lake in Muskoka. Barb’s favourite hobbies were hosting, going out with family and friends, and most importantly, spending the holidays with the ones she loved most.
Barb’s sass and wit will always be fondly remembered. She will be greatly missed by many and will forever remain in our hearts.
