It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Renso Meyer, our loving and caring Father, Opa, Uncle and friend. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, he left us to be with his Lord after suffering from complications from a fall. He was in his 90th year.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Clara (nee Bakker), and his parents John and Anna Meyer.

Renso was the beloved father of Sonya (Hugo), John (Cathy), Angela (deceased), and Michelle (Paul), the very proud Opa of Patrick (Claudina), Shayla (John), Eric, Lucas, Alexander (Ruth), Nicholas, Aaron (Brooke), Madeline, Samuel, and Annalise, and great-grandfather to Emilia, Aurora, Nicolas and Emma and many, many nieces and nephews.

Born in Haren, Groningen, The Netherlands, on March 27, 1936, Renso was one of 5 children, eldest brother Piet (Tini), Alida (deceased), Peter (Audrey deceased), sister Alice (Jake deceased).  From an early age, he possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a natural ability to connect with people. Throughout his life, he embraced new opportunities with determination, optimism, and enthusiasm. From owning a grocery store to becoming a top salesman for various companies, and later building and operating a national import business, Renso’s success was rooted in his gift for building lasting relationships. He loved hearing people’s stories and learning how they were doing. He took great pride in his work and inspired those around him with his perseverance, resourcefulness, and belief that anything was possible through hard work.

Above all, Renso was a family man. He shared a loving and devoted partnership with his beloved wife Clara for over 60 years, building a life together grounded in faith, commitment, and love. He was deeply invested in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always eager to hear what was happening in their worlds and proud of their accomplishments. Known for his warm smile and welcoming embrace, Renso never missed an opportunity to offer a heartfelt hug.

Dad had a strong belief in the Lord God and spent many decades participating in various roles in his church.

A special thank you to the health care providers and volunteers at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie for their attentive care, and to the staff at Villa Care Center in Midland for their compassion and kindness over the last few weeks.
