Obituary of Joanne Pauline Peppler
Reverend Joanne Pauline Peppler passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Wellington Hospice, with her daughters by her side, at the age of 85.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Lori Peppler‑Beechey and her husband Todd Beechey; Alison Peppler; and John Peppler and his wife Nicole Peppler. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Sydney Beechey, Lauren Beechey, Ashley Peppler, and Shannon Peppler.
Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Larry Peppler, and by her parents, Harold and Marjorie Berner.
A lifelong advocate for education, compassion, and service, Joanne began her career as a schoolteacher and was a devoted mother of three. Her deep commitment to the Lutheran church inspired her to return to school, and in 2001 she was ordained as a minister. She served for many years as an on‑call chaplain in the hospitals of Kitchener‑Waterloo before being called to St. James Lutheran Church in New Dundee, Ontario; the same congregation where her great‑great‑grandfather once served as pastor.
Joanne found joy in playing bridge, travelling, and sharing laughter and friendship with the many people whose lives she touched.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Season’s Retirement Cambridge, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Medical Day Care, and Wellington Hospice in Guelph for their extraordinary and compassionate care.
A funeral service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to Cambridge Memorial Hospital Cancer Care or The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada may be made through the funeral home at 519‑745‑8445 or at www.erbgood.com.
