With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Glen Orloe Wright, at age 76, on June 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Glen was predeceased by his parents, Orloe and Mary Wright; his Aunt Verna; and his cherished mentors, Bill Martichenko and Gordon Brunt.
He will be deeply missed by his loving partner, Linda; his children, Chris (Sharon) and Leanne (Ryan) and their mother Nancy; his sister, June (Andrew); his brother, Bruce; his beloved grandchildren, Ben, Eliza, Will, and Elliott; his faithful Labrador, KD; and his many nieces, nephews, and extended family, with whom he had extremely close relationships.
Born in North York on October 4, 1949, Glen lived a life of family, leadership, service, and community building. He earned respect across Canada and around the world through his work in business, politics, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and volunteer leadership. Across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, he was known for his judgment, integrity, and ability to bring people together. At his core, Glen was a builder who built organizations, relationships, and possibilities, a quality his family knew best through the way he encouraged others, created opportunities, and helped people see and achieve more than they thought possible.
Beyond his work, Glen embraced life through hunting, fishing, shooting sports, woodworking, pottery, motorcycles, boating, golf, cooking, reading, travelling, fine wine, and automobiles. He shared these interests with his family, creating experiences, supporting hobbies, organizing events, and passing along passions that became part of the family’s story across generations.
Family, friends, and community were always Glen’s highest priorities. His time with his grandchildren was treasured, and he continuously created opportunities to be with them, encourage them, celebrate them, and build memories they will carry for the rest of their lives.
Those who knew Glen will remember his quick wit, infectious sense of humour, generosity, loyalty, wisdom, storytelling, and unwavering willingness to help others. His legacy lives on in the people he mentored, the organizations he strengthened, the communities he served, the passions he passed on, and the family he loved so deeply.
Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service to honour Glen’s Life will take place at Knox Waterloo, 50 Erb Street, W, Waterloo on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Westmount Golf and Country Club, 50 Inverness Drive, Kitchener from 1 – 4 p.m.
