Kan Family (Saam Yi and children) posted a condolence
Saturday, July 11, 2026
Sincere condolences to the Kin Family on the passing of Hilton.
We remember Hilton in Newlands, a quiet but earnest cousin, who was always helpful, whether in his parents shop or with others who needed help. At the Newlands shop he earned his nickname “Boetie” from the local customers.
It was this generous helpful character that my mother, his Saam Yi, most appreciated. Without question Hilton paid the cash deposit at the private hospital which allowed my mother to be treated for her gunshot injuries and thus saved her life.
The Kan family will always remember your kindness.
Rest in peace Hilton.

Buk Buk,
The anchor of our family gatherings, always happy to sit quietly in the corner with a smile. But even from the sidelines, we always knew you were reassuringly watching over us. I will forever carry your encouragement - from the days you used to compliment my handwriting as a child, to the joy you took in praising my kids’ accomplishments.
We will miss your gentle presence and the sweet joy of sharing snacks and jello with you, your generosity and kindness will not be forgotten. And every now and then I'll send the kids over to your house to explode something or try a crazy recipe in your memory.
We will miss you deeply,
Bobo and family

Buk Buk,
We will always remember you as the uncle who liked to fix broken things and reinvent the wheel. You always welcomed us into your home and cooked the most delicious food. Thank you for letting us take over your house every time we came over to play with Mun and Paula.
Mun, Paula, Buk-Mow - Sending our sincere condolences. Russ loved coming over to your house to see what new snacks Buk Buk had to share and Simba loved taking naps with him. We will miss Buk Buk greatly.
Love Moy, Matt, Rusty, Sadie and Simba

Dear Aunt Yuk-Ping, Paula, and Melinda,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Uncle Hilton's passing.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Uncle Hilton was a dearly loved uncle, and Craig will always treasure the memories they shared. I will never forget how Uncle Hilton helped me get my first job at Kong Sing Restaurant. I have always been grateful for that opportunity and for the help, guidance, and advice he gave me over the years. His kindness and generosity made a lasting difference in my life, and I will always remember him with love and gratitude.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of a beloved husband and father. We hope the love of family and the many cherished memories you shared with Uncle Hilton will bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead.
With all our love and deepest sympathy,
Your nephew Craig, Jasmine, Quinton, and Zelda

I’m so sad to see you go, but will always remember what you have done for me, and helped me to grow and be who I am today. From fixing my broken toys, letting us run wild in your house, to getting me a job, giving me advice, and always welcoming me to your house.
I will miss you, but will always love you.

To my dear brother, Hilton Kin,
My brother and I have been very close since childhood days and much more closer since our dad passed away. We are only 1year and 3 months apart. He always makes me laugh whether I am sad or happy and we don't compete with each other but do come to amicable agreement on many issues, however we do console with each other but as we grow older there are differences between us with families, nevertheless, we still keep ourselves mutually friendly.
Both my family and Hilton’s family immigrated same time to Winnipeg for almost 10 years and he was very happy and enjoying a better life in Winnipeg by doing creative work on store and home and he loves cooking, recipe from YouTube. We then branched off on different routes, I moved to Calgary and he moved to Waterloo.
Unfortunately and regrettably, illness catches on old age, he is burdened with dialysis and the suffering has made him very unhappy and shortened his life. He was on dialysis machine at home for over 2 years and it does give him freedom to go onto the machine at any time since going to hospital for dialysis is such a nuisance.
My brother is a kind person, helpful, very generous, a great sense of humour and playful with children and has high respect for elderly people.
The Calgary families invited him to visit Calgary for change of scenery which he did book a flight ticket to be with us on 5th July but sadly he died in his sleep at his home before the expected date.
My brother, May you now rest in peace and try to find mom and dad. You will always be remembered in my thoughts.
Your forever sister,
Ellen
