Obituary of William "Bill" Grover McArdle
Passed away peacefully at Age Care West Williams in Kitchener, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 91.
Bill is once again with his best friend and wife, Jean (McGill). Beloved father to Kimberly (Jon) McArdle-Phipps, Kathryn (Steve) Flannery, and Jody Lynn Risdon. His grandchildren were very dear to his heart, and he was a loved Grandpa to Laura Flannery, Joel (Olivia) Flannery, Sam McArdle-Buse (Vira), and Jess Ostojic. Also, great-grandfather to Evelyn Grace Flannery and Ophelia Rose McArdle-Buse.
Predeceased by his loving sister Connie Taylor and brother-in-law Harry Taylor from Guelph. Stepbrother to Mary Susan Aitken and Jeff McArdle. Bill will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was born on October 28, 1934, in Woodstock, Ontario and moved to Kitchener as a young boy. He met Jean at a young age when both worked at Electrohome. They married in 1954 and spent nearly 66 years together.
Bill worked at CN Weber Ltd. for many years but spent most of his working days at J.M. Schneider Meats, retiring in 1999. Once retired, Bill took up painting. It gave him much enjoyment to give away his exquisite achievements. He decorated many walls with his beautiful pictures in the homes of family and friends. He was also recognized for donating blood more than 100 times.
Bill was a long-time member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church. He cherished his close friends he made there and spoke of them often.
Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10 a.m. A chapel service will follow at 11 a.m. Guests are invited to a reception after the service. A private interment will take place at First Mennonite Church Cemetery.
