Obituary of Dennis Eaton

Dennis’ first years were in Toronto before his parents decided to head East for a Canadian Tire franchise in Nova Scotia. And it was here that a beautiful young woman would capture his heart and with whom he would plant deep roots in Waterloo Region. Dennis’ life was a kaleidoscope of place, work and people. He was the mining engineer, university administrator, and independent management consultant. He was also the happy sidekick to his beloved Hope and the father who never tired of discovering what his four kids (Michael, Helen-May, Richard and Christopher), their partners and their kids were up to. Until he took his last breath, he showed interest in each person who entered his sphere including amazing care providers and friends at the West Hill Retirement Facility. At his big 90 event in June, Dennis said it best - purpose is in valuing each other in good times and in hard times. He led a life of justice from start to finish enmeshed in family, community and discovery. His advice? Sing Monty Python’s “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” it helps when the heart hurts.
