Obituary of Laurence Orr

Laurence was born June 27, 1939, in Belfast, Northern Ireland and passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at WRHN Chicopee, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his children, Colin Orr (Shelley), Paul Orr, Alan Orr (Stacey Dupuis), Gillian Cleasby (Elwood) and Stephen Orr (Pam Gingerich). He dearly loved his grandchildren, Justin Orr, Renae Orr (Matej Perisa), Ryan Orr (Shannon Johnston), Heather Muter (Dan) and Ian Cleasby. He also dearly loved his great-grandchildren, Kieran, Bowie, Deaglan, Landon, Hayden, Harleigh and Audrey.  He will be remembered by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Masaroon, brother-in-law, David Metcalfe (Laura) and sister-in-law, Lynda Morrissey (Kevin), and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his Wife, Margaret (nee Metcalfe), who he married on September 10, 1960. His father, Robert, mother, Agnes (nee Burke), sister, Ray Blackburn (Frank), brother-in-law, Garry Masaroon and son, Robert.

Laurence worked as a police officer for the Royal Ulster Constabulatory in Northern Ireland from 1959 until he moved to Ontario in 1974. He was then an officer with the Waterloo Regional police until his retirement in 1996. Laurence was also a member of many different bands over the years in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Friday, August 14, 2026, for private family 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., and friends are invited for visitation 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Followed by a Celebration of Life in the Fireside Reception room of the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
