Obituary of Janaky Venugopal
Jane passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 16, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Predeceased by her cherished husband, Venu (August 25, 2007), Jane leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love with them. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Anita, son-in-law, Jay, and their daughters, Kahli and Deeya; her son, Anil, daughter-in-law, Ashvini, and their son, Aarin. She will also be missed by her beloved granddogs, Nisha, Shia, and Sofia, and her extended family and friends throughout North America and India.
Jane moved to Canada and began her career as a registered nurse, a natural choice for someone whose instinct was always to care for and help others. She and Venu shared a love of travel and enjoyed seeing the world together. Jane was a talented cook, and her kitchen was often a place where family and friends gathered, ate well, and made memories. She loved playing mahjong, although even that took second place to spending time with her grandchildren.
Family was the centre of Jane’s world. She loved fiercely, gave generously, and took enormous pride in her children, and her grandchildren. Some of her happiest moments were simply spent sharing a meal, watching movies, or playing games with family.
Over the past two years, Jane was especially grateful to have her son-in-law, Jay, by her side. Jay altruistically assumed the role of driver, shopper, handyman, and loyal friend. Jane treasured that time with him, and her children will always be grateful for his care.
As Jane navigated her health trajectory, her family is deeply grateful to her healthcare care team including her physicians. Their guidance and compassion helped Jane and her family through a difficult journey. A special thank you goes to the wonderful team of support staff from Paramed, whose kindness, and dedication made each day a little easier for Jane. The family is also immensely grateful to the many friends who made every effort to support Jane, check in on her, and make sure she never felt alone.
Jane was profoundly loved, and she gave that love back in countless ways. Her warmth, humour, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed.
Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Jane’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
