Obituary of Sandra Marie Logel (nee Walker)

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at WRHN @ Queen’s (formally St. Mary’s Hospital) Surrounded by the love of her husband Dave and nieces Maureen and Carolyn.

Survived by her beloved husband  Dave Logel for almost 64 years, Sister Sharon Armstrong of Mapleridge, BC. Brother Robert Walker (Catherine Green) of Peterborough. Aunt Yvonne Pagani of Burlington, ON. Sister in law to Patsy Logel, Sharon (Mike) Boyle, Janet Logel, Barb Logel, Shirley  Logel, Marj Goodyear, Mary Daunheimer, Bernie Preiditsch and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Harry and Marie Walker (nee Hammar), Uncle Dick Pagani and Barry Armstrong. Dave’s family George, Rosemarie (Al) Overland, Alice Preiditsch, Clare, Jim (Genevieve), Tom, Dan, Joanne Hepditch, Laverne (Laura) and Larry Goodyear.   

Sandy was born and raised in Kitchener and attended St. Mary’s High School. She went on to study at Lougheed Business College, where she met Dave’s sister, Marj, who introduced her to Dave. They were married on September 8, 1962, and enjoyed many years together in their home on Gildner Street in Kitchener.

Following college, Sandy worked at John Walter and Son, also known as Copper Craft. She later worked as a therapy assistant at KidsAbility Rotary Centre in Kitchener. She enjoyed her career working with children and took great pride in her work. Sandy supported Dave in his dream of owning a farm, where they raised Charolais cattle. They spent weekends and summers at the farm near Macton, ON. The farm was appropriately named Sandavey Farms.

Sandy and Dave travelled extensively together, enjoying trips across many countries in Europe, as well as to BC and Alberta to visit family. Some of our fondest memories of Sandy were times spent at the farm. She was often found in her garden, gathering vegetables for supper, or reading a good book in her rocking chair. We enjoyed many home-cooked meals over the years after long days of picking stones or bringing in the hay. Sandy had a great talent for documenting her and Dave’s family history.

Sandy was a great listener and always made time to sit and talk with her many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed hearing about their work and adventures.

Sandy faced the challenges that came with her Parkinson’s diagnosis with determination and courage.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Terrace on the Square. Dr. Carolyn Fuss and community of care givers at  Lanark Heights LTC .  Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Claire Harlick, Dr. Spencer Ler, Dr. Lisa Dinicoto and the staff in the ER and on 3 West @ Queen’s for their care and kindness they provided to the family and Sandy in her final days.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Tuesday August 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service to take place in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception room of the funeral home.  Interment to take place on Wednesday August 26, 2026 at 10:30am St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Macton, ON.
