Obituary of Carol Elizabeth Schott

It is with profound sadness and grateful hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carol Elizabeth Schott on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 2:11 p.m., at the age of 97.

Born April 10, 1929, to Oscar and Linean Gingrich, Carol was born and raised in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. 

Carol is now reunited with her beloved husband, Clifford Schott; her son, Gary; and her granddaughter, Stephanie.   

Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was immensely proud of the family she and Clifford created. She will be deeply missed by her children, Brad (Karen) Schott, Linda Schott, and Judy (John) Pearce; her grandchildren, Rob McTaggart (Jackie), Lori Schott (Mike), Sarah Schott, Aimee Schott (Kris), Tim Schott (Megan), Jill Doerr, Kaitlin Caissie (Ken), Nick Schott, Joanna Pearce, and Joel Pearce (Leanne); her many great-grandchildren, Robbie, Taylor, Olivia, Brenner, Blaze, Deacon, Oliver, MJ, Jesse, Darius, Hazel, Ireland, Ainslee, Mackaylin, Maisee, Annie, Penny, Charlie, Owen, Kieran, Zander, Vaughn, Finley, Aylin, Jaxsen, Jaime, Jaxson, Isla, Harrison, Wyatt and Hannah; and her great-great-grandchildren, Addison, Trenton, Evelyn, Jack, Luke, Ellie,  Koah and Leona.

Carol and Clifford shared a beautiful life together. They were married in 1951 and, over the course of nearly 65 years, built a life and a family filled with love.  They enjoyed many years at the family cottage at Chesley Lake, many winters in Florida and travelling the world together. 

She is survived by her sisters Wanda (Nevin) Gingerich, Barb Clare and many nieces and nephews.  She had already said goodbye to her sister, Evelyn Seyler, and her brothers-in-law Laverne Seyler and Tom Clare.

Carol also enjoyed times spent with Cliff's family. She is survived by David (Denise) Schott. She had already said goodbye to Clare (Marg) Schott, Glen (Alice) Schott, Don Schott, Ken (Jackie) Schott, Grace (George) Bechtel.

A woman of deep faith, she enjoyed connection at Erb Street Mennonite Church in Waterloo, First Mennonite Church in Kitchener and Rockway Mennonite Church in Kitchener. 

In the week leading up to her passing, Carol was surrounded and showered with an abundance of love from the family she cherished so deeply. Even up until an hour before her passing, she was still smiling and laughing, a beautiful reflection of the joy and warmth she carried with her throughout her life.

Our sincere thanks to the palliative care team and the wonderful staff on the 6th floor of WRHN at Queen’s Blvd. (Formerly St. Mary’s General Hospital) for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion they showed Carol and our family during her final days. Their care meant so much to us.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. The memorial service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will take place at Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery.
