Obituary of Marie Desmeules
At 7:30am on January 19th, as the sun rose on a beautiful Winter morning, our beloved Mum, Grandma and Great-Grandma was released after sudden illness to join our Dad to dance again together in the heavens.
Born on October 22, 1926 in London, England, Mum met her Canadian soldier at the youthful age of 16 and began a life together that took them on a journey to Canada, England and then Canada again. Along the way, their love grew with the arrival of five children. We will miss the presence of our matriarch who endlessly supported her family. She was a great cook whose biggest joy was having her family gathered for meals, laughs and stories. A fierce and revered Scrabble champion, she loved to play with anyone that was ready for a game.
Left to live her legacy and follow her example of dedication to family are her children Colin (and Helen), Rod (and Marilyn), Yvette (and Don), Suzanne, Marcel (and Rose) and her Grandchildren Philip (and Sarah), Adrienne, Jessica, Ben, Danielle, Sam, Semara, Roan and Amber and Great-Grandchild Albert. Mum is predeceased by her loving husband Leo in 1998 and brother Robert in 2012. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Joyce, Sylvia and Jean along with extended family and life-long friends in England.
Please join us to remember our Mother's life at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 22nd from 6 to 9pm. There will be a service and celebration of life on Wednesday, January 23rd at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home. The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital 6th floor nursing staff for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mum's memory can be made to the "Foundation Fighting Blindness" in support of her fight against Macular Degeneration.
