Obituary of Elvira York

Passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital on Monday, January 28th at the age of 76 years. Beloved mother of Alan John (Lizzie Epoo), James Michael (Kelly Sweeny), Robert Kurt (Sharon Wodchyc), Patrick Bryan (Jennifer Munick) and Janet Luise (Alain Bouchard). Cherished grandmother of Jusi, Patricia, Bryan, Selena, Kyle, Samantha, Meighan, Charlene, Kellie, Joel, Daniel, Carmen, Christopher, Nicolas, Lydia, Madison and Matthew. Great-grandmother of Johnny, Casey, Sidney, Paul and William York, Braiden Jiwa - York, Hannah Wingert, Oliver Wodchyc and Tatum Burgess. Dear sister of John (Frieda), Kurt (Susan) and Louise Millar. Predeceased by husband James, daughter Patricia, son Dennis, parents John and Luise Neufeld, and brothers-in-law Peter Vanderkolff and Peter Millar. Elly was a vibrant member of every organization, workplace and community she became a part of. Volunteering with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, K-W Oktoberfest, Big Sisters, United Way, Operation Christmas Child and many others provided her with a great source of pleasure and pride. Once retired, her new passion was to discover lighthouses wherever she travelled. The fact that her family was spread across Canada gave her many travel opportunities and enjoyment to visit with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends along the way. She has touched so many people in so many ways - such an energetic person, forever running from one place to another. She will be remembered for her colourful personality and all the crazy earrings she had for every occasion. May her guiding light follow everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Friends are invited to share their memories of Elly with her family during visitation on Friday, February 1st from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. Interment at a later date.
