Obituary of David Smith

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of David Smith who passed away suddenly at home on May 1, 2013 in his 66th year. Survived by his beloved wife Lynn. Cherished son of Ross Smith (Mary Izma). Loving father of Wilson and his fiancé Adrienne, Tory and her fiancé Jonathan and Tim. Dear brother of Joanne Souther (Monty). Predeceased by his mother Helen Smith. David was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, he was an engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo and was the President of WDS Construction founded in 1988. David has been a member of both the Ontario and K-W Home Builders Associations for many years and was elected to the Board of Directors where he subsequently served as President in 1983 and 1985. …. But more than that he was "one hell of a guy"! David will be missed by his golf guys, poker pals, the boating buddies, the hunting and shooting gang, all the Florida and tiki friends, the fellas and gals who have been with us all the way through our construction builds and his loving family who are heartbroken from the loss of this wonderful man. We know the kind of hole this will leave in all of our lives and we hope you can find some solace in knowing David loved you all so dearly. Thank you for your love and friendship, he will miss you as much as he will be missed. Friends are invited to share their memories of David with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be offered at funeral home Monday evening at 8:45 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, 173 Lourdes St, Waterloo on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Edward Sheridan as Celebrant. Reception will follow in the Church Hall.
