Obituary of Wilma Messer
Wilma Messer passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital at age 88.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, George, twenty years ago, and is survived by four children and their spouses: George & Doris Messer, Linda & Peter Davis, Peter & Johanne Messer and Philip and Marlene Messer, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Wilma lived in Waterloo from the time she was three. She was one of 14 children of Thomas and Augusta Lough, and is survived by sisters Louise, Myrtle and Joanne.
She maintained close friendships with her classmates from KCI, working friends from her days at J. M. Schneider, members of St. John's Lutheran Church and her nieces that included her in their family and church functions.
In her younger days, Wilma was an adventurous traveller and made frequent visits to Europe. More recently her life was enriched by Third Age Learning, Saturday afternoon operas, and attending theatre performances with her friend Jean.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Wilma with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday May 7, 2013 from 4-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday May 8, 2013 at 11:30 am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. A private family interment at Parkview Cemetery to be held.
