Lynne had great courage and determination to work for what was right and good- that courage rubbed off on many of us who had the privilege to work with her. I remember Lynn as a co-worker, friend, and mentor. She always made herself available to help no matter how busy she was. She offered me guidance while teaching at Conestoga College, gave me a reference when I was looking for a job, and always provided me with a balanced perspective. It was her goodness and selfless spirit that I will always cherish.

Lynne was a mentor for me. I remember sitting on one of the benches in the atrium at Waterloo City Hall with her when she was the Mayor and we talked about my interest in running for city council. She was so encouraging and positive. She inspired me and many other women to become seek office. We even went to a "Campaign School for women in Brantford where she was a keynote speaker. I will always remember her encouraging words and positive spirit.

I met Lynne while attending Conestoga College in 1994. She took an interest in my creative writing and became a sort of mentor to me. Even an casual encounter with her had me walking away with an "action plan". What I remember the most about her was that she was genuine. I still carry with me many of the lessons she taught me.

I am grateful to Lynne for her support many years ago when I was starting to work with community agencies. She was interested in guiding me and took time to talk with me about strategies and ideas. I learned a lot from her. More recently, when I see the strength, insight and good humour in Anne, her daughter, I know the best of Lynne has been shared and will continue. I worked with Lynne when she sat on Council. She was a very ambitious, dynamic woman with a genuine interest in the City of Waterloo and it's citizens.
She was wonderful to work with and never seemed to have a bad day. After leaving the political environment she remained friends with many staff.

I first met Lynne at Conestoga College, Doon campus, when I was student president of the Doon Students Association. Lynne was instrumental in helping me succeed there as we brought about both reviews and re-structuring of the student government. I remember how proud she was when she gave me the first of many tours of the behind the scenes look at Waterloo City Hall. She had a amazing ability to remember everyone's name, something I never quite got the knack of. I feel blessed to have known her and being able to spend some formative years under her wing.
