Obituary of Bruce Prittie

Bruce passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at St. Mary's General Hospital at the age of 82. Loving husband of 58 years to Joy Olive Prittie (Dark). Beloved and cherished dad to Alison Joy Prittie. Predeceased by his parents Myra and Richard Arthur Prittie, a brother Donald Prittie and brother-in-law Rex Dark. Bruce was employed for 39 years with the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada. In 1986 he became President of Broy Business Enterprises. For over 60 years he was active with the Boy Scouts of Canada North Waterloo District, as a Rover, Cub and Scout Leader, Service Team Member, Division Commissioner and District Commissioner as well as member of the Scouters Guild. Bruce was awarded the Silver Acorn in 1978 for distinguished service to scouting and the Bar to the Silver Acorn for further distinguished service in 1997. Very active in church activities with Glen Acres Baptist Church where he was a Charter member. Bruce and Joy enjoyed many wonderful holidays together. He enjoyed reading, bookkeeping and still managed to look after many tax returns in the past few years. The Prittie family will share memories with friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate his life and faith will take place on Thursday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. from Glen Acres Baptist Church 223 Hartwood Ave., Waterloo. Rev. Bill Horne and the Venerable Peter T. Townshend (Church of the Holy Saviour) officiating. Interment in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo, followed by a reception at Glen Acres Baptist Church.
