To the Watty family,my sincere condolences. I only knew Ruth Ann briefly while taking classes at First United but I was drawn to her in conversation immediately. I thought of her as an angel on earth after I learned of her dedication to the activities of the church and the many other areas of the community she was involved with. I will always remember how she made me feel welcome with her friendly and kind manner.

Linda was my teacher when I began high school. I was a broken, abused child, who desperately needed to be loved. At first, Linda offered smiles and encouragement. Soon she gave praise for my academic success. My self-esteem increased and I was drawn to Linda. I would talk with her after class everyday and our short exchanges meant the world to me. My home life was unbearable, so much so, that at times, I believed that the world would be better off without me. I was able to hold on to Linda's kind words, whenever I felt hopeless. Eventually Linda was moving away. I was very sad and frightened at the thought of losing her. That summer, I had been out one day, and when I returned home, I discovered that Linda had come by and had left me a gift and a card (booklet). The card talked about the meaning of friendship and at the end of the card, Linda wrote a simple message: Thank you for being my friend. Love Always, Linda. The gift was a small handcrafted dog. I am 59 years old today and that dog sits on my fireplace mantle. It means the world to me because it holds all the memories I have of Linda's love. How do you thank somebody for saving your life? How do thank someone for giving you a sense of self-worth, when you had none? I haven't seen or talked to Linda for about 41 years. Today I learned that she recently passed away. That made me sad, but it also made me very happy, as it gave me reason to remember the love Linda shared and to celebrate having had the good fortune of crossing paths in this life with Linda. God bless her loved ones.

I have been searching online for Linda for many years and I am saddened to find her one month after her passing. She was my teacher in the early 1970s. At that time, I was a broken, abused child, who desperately needed to be loved. Linda touched me in such a powerful way that throughout my life, I thought about her and there were many times, when her love lifted my spirits. Linda never knew the positive impact she made in my life and I wanted to find her to share this. I sincerely hope that her loved ones read my message and find their spirits lifted. By the way, I have struggled my whole life because of my childhood abuse BUT I was so inspired by Linda that I became a teacher myself. Like Linda, I reached out to children, who needed desperately to be loved.

Dear Frank and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences at this most difficult time in your lives.
Although I was not a close friend of Ruth Ann's, I did know her for more than twenty years at KWES and always admired her.
As a teacher I did not have a lot to do with the pre-school programme, but my memories are always of a smiling, singing Ruth Ann. Every time I passed the pre-school she was leading the children in a song.
We both had our final day at KWES on March 6, 2008 and wished each other well. The last time I saw Ruth Ann was for tea at Aysel's about a year ago and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon together.
In addition, Frank, you mentioned at the service today about her being an avid gardener. I have some of Ruth Ann in my garden. Many years ago she generously shared some of her perennials with me. I especially think of her each spring when the pink Peony blooms.

Alfred and I were introduced to Ruth Ann in 1969, when Frank brought her to Dominica. We were two couples planning to get married, so that established a common bond immediately, other than the fact that Alfred and Frank were in class together at the dominica Grammar school.
Since that time, we have kept in touch, meeting together over the years
whenever they visited, exchanging stories and gifts.Our children met and played with Adrian and Darryl when they were little boys, and came with their parents to Dominca. I always looked forward to the Wattys' visits, and to Ruth Ann's many gifts, as she seemed to have the knack of knowing exactly what I liked and wanted.
We were delighted to meet the entire family, wives and children of Adrian and Darryl last year, not kknowing that it would be the last ime we would see Ruth Ann thi sside of earth.
Frank, Adrian and Darryl and your families, we are with you in spirit.
May God give you strength as you face the hours and days ahead.

Uncle Frank, Adrian, Darryl & families: Our hearts go out to you at this very sad time. Aunt Ruth Ann's passing is still so hard to believe when she was so vibrant and active such a short time ago. We take comfort in knowing her spirit is free and her period of illness was short. I also take comfort in thinking about her being with Grandpa and Grandma again. Blessings to you all.
