As a retired Fire Prevention Officer with Waterloo Fire Rescue it was always a delight when Bill would bring Jon into Station 2 Headquarters for his inspection. As a former deputy fire chief in Waterloo, I have fond memories of Jonathan visiting our fire Station on Columbia street for his "inspection". More than once Jonathan "scolded" us with a twinkle in his eye and then helped to replace a tattered flag. My fondest memory is of Jonathan helping to raise the flag at the (then) new Station 4 on University Avenue. I'm sure all the Waterloo Firefighters who shared a cold beverage with Jonathan will remember him for a very long time - I know I will. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Jon was always a delight. I remember so well his smile and also his hearty laugh while watching movies. Grandma and I have a picture of Jon posted on our cork board. He is in his karate gear, sporting a big smile. And that is how I will remember him. It won't be long and I will be seeing Jon, singing, dancing and running. PTL. I'm looking forward to that. My sincere condolences to you Bill and Marilyn and the rest of the family as you go through this dark valley. May the good Shepherd comfort and strengthen you in very special ways at this time.
