Obituary of Anne Fast

Beloved wife of John Fast, passed away peacefully at K-W Grand River Hospital, on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in her 91st year. She is survived by her husband John; her son Ernst Fast and grandson Raul from Vancouver; her son Bruno from Chicago; and her son John George Fast and Esther in Waterloo, together with granddaughter Rebecca Fast and her husband Paul from Pittsburgh, and granddaughter Karin Fast, Pittsburgh. Anne is also survived by two younger siblings; sister Helena Werschke in Germany and brother Hans Giesbrecht in Russia. Anne is predeceased by her mother Anna Giesbrecht (nee Hamm) and father Franz Giesbrecht, as well as sister Katja Giesbrecht and brother Frank Giesbrecht. Anne was formally trained as a nurse and midwife in Germany and served in that capacity with Mennonite refugees following the Second World War in South America. She treasured her church community; was a loyal wife; a faithful friend to many; a caring and devoted mother; and a cherished Oma to her grandchildren. Friends are invited to share their memories of Anne with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 2-5 pm. The funeral service will be held at Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church, 19 Ottawa Street North, Kitchener on Sunday, December 29 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow. Private family graveside service will take place at First Mennonite Church Cemetery, Kitchener.
