Irene Steiner posted a condolence
Thursday, January 2, 2014
Dear David, Amy and family. I'm quite sure you do not know me, but I do want to extend my condolences to you on the passing of your dear Mother. I got to know your Mom when she was involved with Self Help back in the late 70's and 80's. She was always very helpful, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. She would often talk about you Dave. Every once and awhile we would meet again over the years. When I retired from MCCO as Thrift Shop Coordinator in 1999 your mother was instrumental in organizing the putting together of a wall hanging with hand-made blocks representing each of the 12 shops. I think of her often when I see this one of a kind wall hanging displayed in my sewing area. May memories brighten the darkest days and keep you warm through the cold, lonely times. With sympathy, Irene Steiner

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dorothy while working with her at the MCC Thrift Shop on Lancaster St. in Kitchener. Dorothy was a member of the Board and then the Board Chair for many years. Dorothy always had a smile and words of encouragement for me, and was very dedicated to the shop. She continued to make many items, most especially the dish cloths, that sold like hotcakes, for many years after her Board duties were finished. When she dropped in at the shop, she was always going to or coming from doing something with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
