Sevi, I am at a loss for words, there is nothing I can say to make your loss easier. It's tough to put into words because this doesn't make sense. We will never forget the great memories of Terry! Terry and I have crossed path many times on the soccer field and with a wide smile he would always says hello. But one special day that stood out for me was on our son CJ's last outdoor game in Cambridge he came over to where I was sitting on the bench and sat beside me watching the game. I asked him which was his son and he says none, but I enjoy watching the kids so I came out to watch. He then turn to me and said, How is CJ doing? I was surprised he knew my sons name but not only did he knew his name he went into details about his playing, weakness and strength. I was impressed and felt inclusive in the soccer community. Terry had given me some honest advice and I just wanted him to know I did listen. Terry you will be missed! Sevi, Brock and Beckham you will be in our prayers, and also just to let you when everyone is gone and the three of you are together, only the loving memories of your husband and dad Terry will help you through the rough days ahead.

Terry, mere words can not do justice to the impact you have had on my life. You are my cousin however I don't think of you as a cousin, simply put you have always been the big brother I never had, along with Sal, and for that I am eternally grateful. On Sunday December 29, 2013 I lost a friend. His name was Terry. I'm sure if I look, I will find many others that can say the same thing.
They'll say 'He was my coach, he was awesome.'
They'll say 'He assisted on my goal that night, he set me up beautifully.'
They'll say 'I am so glad to have been able to spend that time with him.'
They will all say 'I miss him.'
When I first met Terry my son was a house league soccer player, and Terry was his coach. You could just tell by the way he dealt with the boys back then that he got it; he understood the game and the boys. A rare combination indeed. He was passionate about their development and wanted them all to succeed. With his guidance they have all developed and grown. They are all fortunate to be able to say, I was coached by Terry.
Our first full season as soccer parents found us enjoying times like import beer night, with a pool party at Terry and Sevi's the finish the season. Good times for all! Little did I know that I would be happy to have Terry take over as coach of the 'A' team, because he had believed in my son at the start, and knew he had skill, only to be disappointed not to be part of the 'A' team when he didn't make it. Sure I was upset that my son wasn't on the team, but it really goes deeper than that - the bonds created that first year while Terry was on the sideline with us as parents endure and continue to this day.
I was so stoked when T asked me to co-manage the Academy team. We were back together, like the rat pack from days gone by. He saw again the potential in these boys and the future was bright. You could tell he loved it - not only was he participating in the development of the boys, he was developing his own skills at the same time. I'm glad to have been there to see it and share it.
OK here's the scoop - he wasn't perfect. In fact, he repeated the same mistake many times. True story - each year we need to collect player books and coaches' books in order to register for each season of soccer. This year Terry couldn't find them - no matter where he looked, he even thought he had not gotten them back. I'm told he did this almost every year. Turns out they were hidden carefully away so that the book thief couldn't get them. In the end who found them? Sevi. On her first try.
As it turns out, we shared another passion. Hockey. I ran a Sunday night team and heard him say he still played. 'Players wanted' I said - come out and join us. Once committed, he was all in. When the core players who started the team began leaving, Terry stepped up and brought his friends along for the ride. Often he would message me that he had spares coming out. He kept us going for sure. On Tuesday I got a message from one of the other captains, sent to their team. It reads: "You'll all remember Terry was one of their most gentlemanly and craftiest players. We played together until this past Sunday. At the start of the game I noticed Sevi in the stands and said to T - you'd better do well; you have a fan! He knew he had to impress. Three peiods and some stellar play later and we had won 6-5. He would often have the boys critique his play in the locker room afterwards, which they relished for sure. Every moment was an opportunity to share his passion for the games he loved. He did so freely and without reservation.
Somebody please help me to understand.
I may never understand but perhaps it is true - someone wanted his presence more than we did, so he was taken early. He leaves a legacy of inspiration, caring, passion and love.
I'm glad to have been part of the journey.

Terry was a great person, coach, dad, and for me a great friend and mentor. I wish I met him a lot sooner in life. What comes to mind when his name is said are words like, modest, honest, trustworthy, caring, kind hearted, funny, truthful, humble, polite, respectful, and the list goes on. From the first time I met Terry he opened the door to his Family & introduced me to his incredible group of friends. Terry had an amazing way of making you feel like you belong. Whether it was a fishing trip to the French River or a Golf trip to Myrtle Beach Terry was always the life of the Party and made such a presence everywhere he went. He was the guy you always wanted to stand next to & hang out with. I will always cherish the memories of the Christmas & New Year's our Families shared in Florida and use that to cushion the hard days ahead. My biggest regret will be that I will never have the chance to tell you what a positive impact you had on my life and what an honor it was for me to have called you "Friend".

Sevi, On behalf of the Guelph Soccer Boys U12 team, we make this donation in honour of Terry's commitment to minor sports in KW & Cambridge. Over the past few years, my husband and I had the privilege to meet Terry on several occasions through our different roles. My husband Richard has coached A level hockey for many years and remembers Terry through their games against Hespeler. I have had the privilege of chatting with him at soccer games ...as well as all those times dropping/picking up our kids from Hockey camp at the UofG. Terry will be tremendously missed, while we did not know him well...in our brief encounters, I always found him engaging, kind and committed to his family and sports!
