Obituary of Irmgard Eatock
Eatock, Mrs. Irmgard, née Gleisner,
9 August 1923, Halle, Germany - 27 January 2014, Waterloo, Canada.
As a young woman, Irmgard immigrated to Toronto, where she met H.R. (Bob) Eatock. They married in 1954 and lived in Galt, Halifax, England, Asbestos and Brantford before settling in Waterloo in the early 1970's. For over thirty years, Irmgard pursued a successful real estate career in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, through which she made wonderful colleagues and friends. At the same time, Irmgard was active in the community, embracing many charitable causes. She and Bob were devoted to each of their Airedale Terriers.
Bob passed away in 2000; Irmgard also outlived her sister Erika. For the last few years of her life, Irmgard lived at Terrace-on-the-Square in Waterloo. A woman of strong opinions, Irmgard was generous with advice, solicited or not, but also praise, encouragement, and support. A favorite pastime was hosting lunch parties at favorite restaurants. Despite serious health problems of late, she maintained a buoyant spirit and sense of humor, helped by the attentions of the considerate staff at Terrace-on-the-Square and dear friends in the community, for whom she expressed the deepest gratitude. She will be remembered with great affection by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, her nephews and nieces, and their families.
To respect Irmgard's wishes, no visitation or service is scheduled. Donations in honour of Irmgard's memory may be made to Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, which operates Anselma House in Kitchener, and to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
