Obituary of Sheila Christie
Sheila passed away peacefully at her home at The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener, with her son at her side, on February 2, 2014. Sheila will be missed by her son Ric and daughter-in-law Wendy, her granddaughter Jillian, her sister-in-law Wendy Lindsay and her brother-in-law J A (Sandy) Christie as well as nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband J W (Bill) Christie in 2004, and her brother Roy in 2012.
Sheila was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1925 and moved to Montreal with her parents, Roylin (Simpson) and Archibald Lindsay when she was 4. In addition to her long and successful career as an educator in Montreal, Sheila enjoyed travelling and was both artistic and musical. She painted, sang with the Montreal Bach Choir and played piano and recorder. After they retired, Sheila and Bill moved to Waterloo to be close to family where they joined Newcomers Club, KW Symphony Volunteer Committee and Conestoga Mall walkers. As well, Sheila continued to take art lessons, played bridge and joined Probus.
As per Sheila's wishes, cremation has taken place; a Memorial Service will take place on April 5th at 1 pm.
