Obituary of Jack Smith
Died peacefully on Sunday March 2, 2014, in his 87th year.
Survived by his wife Helen (nee Taylor); his son John Smith (Trish Vakil); daughter Amy Smith (Paul Melten); grandchildren Gregory, Eric and Claire. Also survived by his sister, Shirley Bond.
Predeceased by his mother Frankie and father Lorne.
Jack graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1951. He spent most of his career in Kitchener-Waterloo. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1966.
Jack loved cottaging at Oliphant on the shores of Lake Huron. There, he was introduced to sailing which led to a 36 year association with the Wiarton Marina. His winters were spent perfecting his ski technique on the slopes at Craigleith Ski Club.
Many thanks go out to the doctors, nurses, health care workers and neighbours who eased his final journey.
Friends are invited to share the memory of Jack with his family during a memorial visitation and reception in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 5 pm until 8 pm.
