Sara died on Thursday March 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 85.
Family was the centre of Sara's life. She is survived by her beloved husband and constant companion of 66 years Daniel. She loved her children unconditionally and devoted her life to them - Trudy and Georg Fritsch of St. Clements, Marianne and Jim Erb of Waterloo, Reinhard and Erika Schmidt of Kitchener and Bill (deceased 2010). Oma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Peter and Karen Fritsch, Andrew and Jacquie Fritsch, David Erb and Leanne Baer, Michael and Diana Erb, Daniel and Christine Schmidt, Stephanie and Devin Plomp, Rudy Vincent and Brandi Barens. Her 11 great grandchildren added much joy to her life - Julia, Alexander, Danika, Brandon, Noah, Cecilia, Oliver, Elliott, Katie, Jacquie and James. Sara's brother Andy Wolff and his wife Sara of Atlanta GA and their children Sue and Heinz had a special place in her heart. She will also be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law Katie Schied of Kitchener, Katie Schmidt of Mansfield OH and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Sara (Thudt) and Andreas Wolff; daughter-in-law Ingrid (Paulini) Schmidt; son Paul Michael in infancy and brothers-in-law Fred Schied and George Schmidt.
Sara and Daniel immigrated to Canada from Austria in 1953. Their life story is similar to many immigrant families who focused on hard work and a simple lifestyle so they could make a better life for their family. While both of them worked outside the home, their family never suffered from lack of love or attention. They enjoyed their membership with Saxon friends at the Transylvania Club, cherished their time at their cottage at Amberley and were charter members of Bethel Lutheran Church, Kitchener. For the last 3 years, Sara and Daniel enjoyed living at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo where she made many new friends and received excellent care.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Sara with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Sunday, March 16th from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 p m to 9 pm. The funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11 am. Following cremation, interment will take place at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener. Friends and relatives are invited to the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home for refreshments and a time to visit with the family immediately following the service.
