It is with great sadness that the family of Anupam Banerji announces his passing on Sunday, August 23, 2015 after a brief stay in hospital.
He is predeceased by his parents, Asutosh Banerjee and Parun Bala and brothers, Asim Banerjee and Amitabha Banerjee. Left to mourn are his loving children, Robi, Anjana and Arun and his beloved grandchild Luca. Left to mourn in India are his niece, Esha Bandyopadhyay and husband Partha Bose. Remembered by nephews, Ashish Banerjee and Aloke Banerjee (Madhumita Banerjee and Annapurna Banerjee) and cousins, Dipankar Mukhopadhyay, Abhishek Banerjee and Aniruddha Banerjee. He will be greatly missed by many family, friends, colleagues, and students.
Anupam left Kolkata, India and spent ten years in the U.S. studying, teaching, consulting and exhibiting works of art and architecture, many of which won national awards. He joined the University of Waterloo's School of Architecture in 1970 where he worked until retirement. He had a passion for teaching, designing, painting, publishing and was a mentor to many students and friends over the years. Anupam's articles have appeared in leading architectural journals, his art has been exhibited around the world, and he has published eight books on Design, Architecture and Poetry. He continued to actively pursue his writing as his ninth book sits on his desk awaiting a publisher.
A viewing for friends and family will take place on Friday August 28, 2015 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo. A ceremony will also take place at the funeral home on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 12 noon until 1:30pm. Cremation will follow at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Avenue East, Waterloo at 2 p.m.
