Obituary of William Fox

It is with great sadness that the family of William John Fox announces his passing on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Bill died peacefully in his sleep at his residence at Lanark Place Retirement Residence in Kitchener. Bill was the beloved husband of Muriel Fox for almost 64 years, the loving father of Louise Fox (Doug Beaton) of Ottawa and Paul Fox of Kitchener and the dear brother of Edward Fox (Florence Cowan) of Guelph and Quebec City. Bill will be sadly missed by his family and his friends. Bill was a man of many interests who never lost his sense of curiosity and passion for living. Bill graduated from McMaster University in 1945 with a Bachelor's degree in Maths and Physics. Bill was a former employee of the Department of Insurance with the Federal Public Service and a former employee of the Mutual Life of Canada. Bill was especially proud of being a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of receiving his Master of Arts Degree in Religion and Culture in his mid sixties. He was a charter member of and active in the Black Walnut Toastmasters Club of Waterloo and was a member of the Retired Business and Professional Men's Club of Waterloo. He was a keen participant in the Cardiac Fitness Association in Breslau. The family would like to thank the staff of the Lanark Place Retirement Residence for providing Bill with a welcoming living environment and excellent care while he was a resident there. Bill's family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service to celebrate his life will take place on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Funeral Home with the Rev. Julia Gill of St. Columba Anglican Church officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery. A reception for friends and family will immediately follow the interment in the Fireside Reception Room of the Funeral Home.
