Obituary of Mervin A. Martin

Passed away peacefully at Orchard Villa Long Term Care in Pickering, on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the age of 91. Mervin was predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley (nee Hergott) Martin in1990. He is survived by his loving children Roger Martin (Stephanie) and Janet Martin (Cameron Linton), grandchildren Justin Martin (My Tien), Rachelle Martin (Denville Cole), Laura Linton, and Owen Linton as well as a great grandchild Isabelle My Tien Martin. Mervin is also survived by his sister Vera Weber, his brother Clare Martin, his brother-in-law Kenneth Hergott, his sisters-in-law Rita Hergott and Maureen Hergott, and his good friend Lorraine Tucker. Mervin is predeceased by his parents Eden and Valina (nee Shantz) Martin, his sister and brother-in-law Erma and Ward Shantz, by his brother-in-law George Weber, sister-in-law Ellen Martin, as well as brothers-in-law Gerald Hergott, Laverne Hergott, and Bruce Hergott and his wife Eleanor. Friends and family are invited to share their memories of Mervin with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 10 – 10:45 am. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room. As were his wishes, Mervin has been cremated and will be buried with his wife Shirley in St. John’s-Waubaushene Cemetery in a private service.
